   You have a legitimate choice here. The SAT and ACT have a good deal in common: Both are lengthy, intimidating, and stressful. Yet, the flavor and approach of these two exams are different.

SAT
  • offers seven times per year
  • How long is the test? 3 hours 45 minutes
  • What's on the test? Essay, Reading, Math, and Grammar
  • Score ranges from 600 - 2400
  • There is a penalty for wrong answers.
  • More trick based and easier to manipulate
ACT
  • offers six times per year
  • The essay portion is optional.
  • How long is the test? 3 hours + 30minutes if you choose to do the essay
  • What's on the test? Grammar, Math, Reading, Science, and Essay
  • Score ranges from 1 - 36
  • No penalty for wrong answers
  • More reading based and more curricular in nature
